Who is Kathy Birk?

We are. You are.

Let’s face it: job hunting is no fun for anyone. What’s more, ageism in the recruitment process means that it can become even more challenging for people over the age of 50. Fortunately, there is a solution.

Kathy Birk represents the future of work – where mature workers are valued for their experience, flexibility and work ethic. We are committed to fighting ageism in all its forms, and to give older workers a fair shot at securing employment.

Why Join Us?

Kathy Birk is unashamedly aimed at people over 50 years of age. Our founder, Bruce, knows first-hand what it’s like to be the victim of ageism in the job market.

Our mission is to level the playing field for older job-seekers. It starts with our unique profile creation process, which has been carefully designed to distill your years of experience down to its essence, while letting your personality shine through.

Kathy Birk is completely free for employers to use, making it the first port of call for many. In order to maintain this advantage, our members pay a small monthly fee – about the same price as two coffees a week.

Depending on the package you choose, Kathy Birk gives you the option to create multiple profiles. This allows you to tailor your listed skills and experience to different roles simultaneously instead of attempting to put 30 or 40 years of work experience into one!

FAQs

How much does it cost to use the site?

If you are joining as a jobseeker, the first 3 months are absolutely free. All you need to do is signup and create your profile. You don’t need to add a credit card to access the free trial, but you do need to add your contact details in the checkout page so we can get back in touch with you.

If you are an employer wanting to find workers, it is 100% free to register and use the site.

Where are the jobseeker profiles?

You can see a short version of the profiles on the site by going to the top of the page and clicking on the orange ” icon. (If you mouse over any of the orange icons you will see the text for each page.)

If you are an employer, you can see more detailed profiles once you have registered and logged in.

I'm an employer, how do I contact jobseekers on the site if I think they might be a good fit for my business?

To protect the privacy of our members, email addresses and phone numbers are not shared publicly, but once you have registered and had your membership approved, you can communicate with any of the jobseekers on the site through the inbox messaging system. It’s easy to use and means both jobseekers and employers can keep track of all their messages  in one place.

I'm not ready to put my profile up yet. Can I just become a member and add my profile later?

Yes of course. You can simply sign up and then when you are ready, log into the site and start creating your profile.

I started creating a profile but seem to have lost it. What happened?

At present the profiles do not auto save if you navigate away from the profile section during the process. So it is a good idea to be prepared to go right through the process, then make sure you go through the checkout (no payment required) to the submission screen.

Even if your profile isn’t perfect the first time, your work will be saved as soon as you click the submit button, then you can log in at any time and edit or make changes.

When will I start being charged?

Once your three month free trial is nearly finished, you will receive reminder emails to log in and make a payment if you wish to keep your profile on the site. You will have the option of paying for one month, three months or 12 months. Details of pricing are on the Pricing Options page.

what do our members say?

"I have been unemployed for three months and have achieved two interviews, but as yet no job. I see Kathy Birk as a very useful tool in gaining a profile and achieving employment."

"I've had four interviews in as many months. I try not to advertise my date of birth, as I don't see it's relevance to a job application. However in each case, once the recruiter figures it out, I'm almost immediately cut from the list. I feel like my age is excluding me from jobs that I'm perfectly competent for."

"Bruce seems like he's got his head screwed on right. I fully endorse what Kathy Birk is aiming to achieve here, and I hope they can help me with my re-entry into the job market."
